David vs. Goliath

September 6.

Our first home game.  The guys were psyched, although I knew this was a game they couldn't win.  They were playing a huge school, out of their league, and who beat them soundly last year.  My hope was that this would be a great learning experience for the team.  It was tough, to say the least, but it was an opportunity for the team to grow.

On a brighter note, I got some great pictures of Thomas!  It's so hard to capture him actually playing on the field, since at nose tackle he's usually in the middle of a tangled knot of players.

Another bright, bright note was hearing Danny sing the National Anthem, solo and a cappella!!

A beautiful night under the lights!

Just in case you have trouble picking Thomas out of all those players, he's #52.  :)

The next series of three shots show Thomas helping to block so the running back can get through with the ball.  Good job, Thomas!

Post-game discussion.

Thomas, remember that even in huge losses, the Lord rules over your life.  Even in defeat, as long as you're standing for the Lord, you'll never lose.  After all, you have Him.  You have been given every spiritual gift in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.  You are His.

Back to life,
Christine
