Honored on His Birthday

April 16.

Happy birthday, Danny!

Danny turned 22 today, and Fernando and I headed downtown with him to UIC.  Not for his birthday, though--he was being inducted into Phi Kappa Phi, UIC's chapter of the National Honor Society.

Danny's University Choir director Dr. Anderson presented him with his certificate and pin!

Danny posed with the president of UIC's NHS chapter.

Danny obligingly posed for photos with his dad and mom.  We were happy in the Lord for our son's hard work which brought him this special achievement!

In the parking lot, I couldn't resist taking a picture of the skyline, even if there were parking lot lights in the picture.  It was a beautiful sight with the blue, blue sky!

Happy birthday, Danny, and congratulations on your special achievement!

Honor Student #2

On May 3, we had the privilege of attending a ceremony of Danny's induction into Phi Theta Kappa, the National Honor Society for two-year colleges.  Jacob had been inducted last autumn, and we were looking forward to another evening of celebrating the achievements of another son.

Danny waited in line for his turn.  I think he was nervous, but he acted very calmly.

Unlike Jacob's ceremony, this one provided for a time where their official photographer would snap a shot of each inductee when he got up on stage.  I sneaked up next to the photographer and snapped my own shot.

Danny signed the official register.

After the ceremony, we enjoyed an hors d'oeuvres reception with lots of tasty appetizers and sweet treats.  I shot just one of the appetizers before Fernando ordered me to put my camera away.  :)

Right before we left, I got a couple of neat shots of Danny with his grandparents.  Sweet!  I'm so glad they're involved in the lives of their grandchildren.

Congratulations, Danny, on your accomplishments!  We love you!!

It's Greek!

Jacob has been such a great student at Joliet Junior College.  Though he lives at home, he took to college life very easily.  His professors love him, and he makes great grades; hence, the purpose of this post is to show him off...

He was recently inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, the honor society for two-year colleges.  He decided to attend the ceremony (he wasn't required to), and it ended up being a pretty big deal, for us anyway!

The program

The inductees walked in and I was able to snag a shot of Jacob.

After the speech--which we thought was very good for a secular college--the inductees lined up, row by row, to sign the Phi Theta Kappa register as their names were called.

Smarty-pants!

We're so proud of our son who has worked so hard and accomplished so much!
