Flanagan

October 17.

Flanagan.  A football team the Crusaders probably shouldn't be playing.  A tough team, pretty much on their way to the playoffs, and much bigger than our team.  But we played them anyway.

Fernando was working tonight!  PSSI, a satellite uplink service company, had retained Fernando as a contractor, to drive and operate one of their satellite trucks.  We were so excited about this opportunity, and it sounded like they really want to hire him permanently at the end of this trial period (30-60 days).  So exciting, even though he had to miss the game.

Thomas got one amazing tackle when the runner got around our other players:

I think everyone was glad for this game to be over--the stiff breeze made it a killer, weather-wise!  We were never so glad to hop back into the Suburban for the hour-long ride home--plus to drop off another player at his home.  Great way to get toasty once again!

Walking the Path Together

October 12.

Fernando and I had never been to this park before, so we just up and went this Sunday afternoon, to wander and spend some precious time together.

Fernando borrowed my backup camera and the 70-300mm lens to try out his photography skills.

Just go--get up, go together, get away for just an hour.  Spend the time, invest the words, make the memory.

The Last Home Game of the Season

October 11.

Our last home game was pretty amazing!  The stands were packed with family and friends, the weather was perfect, and the guys were ready to play.

This next series of images shows Thomas getting blocked to clear the way for the quarterback.  But the quarterback didn't count on Thomas' strong legs...

Thomas was able to snag one of the quarterback's legs between his own legs, and helped bring him down.  Awesome job!

Another Day, Another Walk in the Woods

October 9.

The next day, I had the opportunity to take another walk in the woods down the street from my house.  The trail here is only a quarter mile, so it's a short wandering walk, with plenty of pauses to just look, and breathe.  I thought that this might be my last walk in these particular woods, since Fernando had recently found a few possibilities for employment out of state.  As in, way out of state.

Being on the trail, all alone, brings peace as I listen to the rustle of squirrels scurrying and the various bird calls in the trees.

For just a little bit, I was able to "escape" reality.  I would always carry the Lord's peace in my heart.

Later that same night, Thomas urged me to go outside and take a picture of the moon.  So I did.
